It is impossible for any literate and mindful people to deny Macedonians´ Greekness: [www.americanchronicle.com] Because, Macedonian is whoever is proud of that campaign that Macedonians did to spread Greek Language and Civilization to the World, right?
So, has Tito created “Macedonian” nation? Not exactly. Until Tito’s times, “Macedonian” nation was in minds of some intellectuals who knew that they were Bulgarians, or some anti-Serbians who claimed Macedonian for they could not claim Bulgarian in face of Serbian occupators. Tito officialized it. Without Tito, SlavoSkopians would be Vardarskians if not Bulgarians of Serbia.
At 1893, Bulgarians of Macedonia, then in Ottoman Empire, decided to create a Union out of Bulgaria, in Macedonia, for promoting annexation of Macedonia to Bulgarian lands. They created famous VMRO. The establishing council had taken place in Thessaloniki. All famous future SlavoSkopian heroes were there: Gruev, Delcev, etc. Krste Tatarcheff (what a Macedonian surname!) was elected as leader. Amongst other decisions, the council decided to raise the banner “Macedonia to the Macedonians”. “We did believe that an autonomous Macedonia would be easily incorporated in Bulgaria, just like Eastern Roumelia, 8 years earlier”, Tatrcheff wrote.
After that, all Bulgarians of Macedonia were ‘advised’ to claim Macedonian. At the beginning, Bulgarians were soft about pushing population of Macedonia to join them. Even some parts of other ethnic groups were attracted by that banner and joined Bulgarians. But the results were poor and soon they started violence. The game had been lost. Slavic atrocities in Macedonia, esp against bilingual (Greek-Slavic) people whose consciousness was doubtlessly Greek, were really inhuman and brutal.
Some Bulgarians of Macedonia did believe that they were Macedonians while some others did elaborate that claim, despite they knew that they were Macedonian nothing. Anyway, ALL educated Bulgarians and ALL leaders of the movement for an autonomous Macedonia knew the truth pretty well. This is well documented: [www.network54.com]
After Ilinden uprising fail, Bulgarian leaders of Macedonia and Skopje left the country for Bulgaria. At 1908 Ottoman Empire established its first Parliament and called all populations to send deputies there. There were no “Macedonian” deputies sent!. At 1913, Bulgaria led its troops to Polis (Istanbul) instead of Macedonia and Skopje where Bulgarian peoples were living. Bulgarians wanted to restore Byzantine Empire under their leadership. So, they lost Macedonia. Greeks of Macedonia were happy for getting united with mother Greece, while Bulgarians where under Serbian occupation. Thus, ‘Macedonian’ identity was a resort for them against Serbian violations. Serbians called modern FYROM land as “Vardarska Banovina”.
After WWII, Tito, leader of Yugoslavia, separated the country in six federative republics. He renamed Vardarska Banovina to “Socialist Federative Rep of Macedonia” or simply ‘Macedonia” for political reasons:
1. He wanted to cut the ties of the population with mother Bulgaria. Thus, instead of Bulgarian unimportant identity, the population was proud to claim ties with shining Macedonian one.
2. He raised clear conspiracies over Greek and Bulgarian lands. He elaborated over the old dream of Panslavism to have an exit to the hot (Aegean) waters through Thessaloninki, Macedonian capital. He wanted to be Emperor of Balkans. He wanted to threaten Greece and Bulgaria ceaselessly. Just what SlavoSkopians do today. He asked from his mentor Stalin to push Bulgaria for ‘macedonizing’ the population of Pirin in Bulgaria. Bulgaria, being in the wrong part at WWII and under communist control, couldn’t deny.
Greece reacted (look at UN decisions) but being destroyed by WWII and Civil war couldn’t do big thing.
But at 1948, Tito-Stalin friendship crashed down and poor Greece was pushed by her ‘allies’ ( patrons USA, UK) to support Tito by not setting up the name problem. If Greece was strong then Tito would have changed back the name of SFRM to Vardarska Banovina.
Tito, being a dictator, had no problem to implement the new name of evolved Bulgarian identity of the population of SFRM. Those who had different consciousness, that is Bulgarian consciousness. were tortured and killed. He had no opposition. Poor SlavoSkopians and poor Greeks! Tito would not macedonize SlavoSkopians, because this would make them Greeks and not Slavs and then not Yugoslavs.
In ten years, the population had a “new” language, which is still being a Bulgarian dialect widely and artificially serbianized by new words. There were many jokes in Bulgaria about SlavoSkopians who suddenly spoke pure Bulgarian when they lost written pages of their speeches. SlavoSkopian is the only language on Earth which has no words of itself. All words there are borrowed from Bulgarian, Serbian, English, Turkish, Greek, Albanian, etc.
Tito turned SlavoSkopians into Titozombies. He masturbated them. He offered them a new shining name and a famous and glorious history that they cannot disclaim of. He brainwashed them so successfully that they cannot clean themselves, even after 20 years of “independent” life.
We Greeks do know that pretty well. We know that SlavoSkopians cannot get separated from Macedonian name. That´s why we have proposed a composed name for FYROM: Somemancedonia(n).
Further, since we Greeks want Risto not to have any illusions about Tito being god or anything else, we could show him how what Tito did is possible: If SlavoSkopians allow us controlling their education system as Tito did we will turn them back to Bulgarians.
Tito could easily “turn” Albanians of FYROM to Illyrians. But Albania was Communist and had no important port.
Today we Greeks have no problem with modern identity of SlavoSkopians. But we cannot call it “Macedonian” because it is Macedonian nothing and because the last 3000 years we have this name for a Greek identity. We cannot allow any non-Greek people monopolizing the name of Macedonia, just like Germany would not allow any Slavic people around monopolizing the name of Bavaria.
Istor
Macedonian, therefore Greek.
